Victor Wembanyama has been constantly getting taller since introducing himself to the NBA in 2023, but he does not bother with his height increase.

Heading to the 2025-26 NBA Regular Season and the San Antonio Spurs opener versus the Dallas Mavericks in American Airlines Center on Wednesday, the 21-year-old French center discussed being officially listed at 7-foot-5, 2.26 meters.

“Over the years, it’s become a non-subject to me because in my opinion, there are so many more interesting things about me,” he mentioned jokingly in a press conference on Monday.

“Sometimes I am surprised there is still a conversation, because in my mind, it doesn’t really make a difference. That’s the truth. I’m taller than everybody else, that is something I already know,” explained Wemby.

The Le Chesnay native is returning to action after a premature end to his 2024-25 campaign. He was shut down by the Spurs last February, after medical tests discovered a deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder. Getting ready with solid Preseason showings, he is eager to finally bounce back in official games.

“After not playing for so long, it doesn’t get better than that. It wouldn’t make a difference,” he answered a question about facing the Mavs and the most recent top draft pick in Cooper Flagg for his first outing since the serious setback.

“I’m very, very excited, of course. I miss that adrenaline, the stakes of the game,” he described his approach to the opener and later fixtures on the schedule of the team coached by Mitch Johnson.

Ending the Spurs‘ playoff drought at seven years emerged as the main goal for Wembanyama.

“Success would mean getting into the Playoffs. That means sixth seed,” he underlined.
