The FBI prevented a “potential terrorist attack” in Michigan over Halloween weekend, arresting multiple people involved in the alleged plot, the bureau’s director Kash Patel announced on Friday, Oct. 31.
“This morning the FBI thwarted a potential terrorist attack and arrested multiple subjects in Michigan who were allegedly plotting a violent attack over Halloween weekend,” Patel said in a post on X. “More details to come.”
Patel did not say how many people were arrested or describe their charges.
FBI agents were “present” in Dearborn and Inkster, two suburbs in the Detroit metro area, said Jordan Hall, a spokesperson for the FBI’s Detroit field office. He did not say if the agents were involved in the investigation Patel described.
“There is no current threat to public safety,” Hall said.
