Florida high school football Week 10 breakdown, what’s real, what’s not?
USA TODAY Florida Network reporters Jon Santucci and Nick Wilson debate the biggest topics after the 10th week of the high school football season.
- Vero Beach, Armwood, St. Thomas Aquinas, and Miami Northwestern are among the eight teams holding No. 1 spots in their respective classes.
- Four teams, including St. Thomas Aquinas and Chaminade-Madonna, were unanimous selections for the top rank in their class.
The top teams in the USA TODAY Florida Network high school football poll remain the same heading into the final days of the regular season.
Vero Beach (Class 7A), Armwood (6A), St. Thomas Aquinas (5A), St. Augustine (4A), Miami Northwestern (3A), Cardinal Mooney (2A), Chaminade-Madonna (1A) and Hawthorne (Rural) repeated as the No. 1 teams in their respective classes in the Week 11 poll.
It’s the third consecutive week that these eight teams were No. 1 in the state. Aquinas, Northwestern, Cardinal Mooney and Chaminade all were unanimous selections.
Blountstown moved up to No. 2 in the Rural Class after picking up three first-place votes.
Three different teams — St. Augustine, Choctawhatchee and Jones — all picked up at least one first-place vote in Class 4A. Class 4A has had the most turnover this season, with St. Augustine, Jones and American Heritage all spending time at No. 1.
The FHSAA regular season wraps up on Nov. 4.
