Jerry Jones Drops Major Hint About Potential Cowboys’ Trade

The Dallas Cowboys offense remains one of the league’s most lethal units, with quarterback Dak Prescott ranking near the top of the NFL in passing yards (2,069), passing touchdowns (16), and completion rate (70.3%), along with a league-leading 79.0 QBR.
Wide receiver George Pickens has also been electric, recording 685 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 43 receptions through eight games; All-Pro WR CeeDee Lamb has totaled 406 receiving yards and one TD on 28 catches in five games.
However, as good as their offense has been, Dallas’ defense has made it increasingly difficult to stack together wins, allowing the most passing yards (263.8 per game) and the second-most points (30.8 per game).
With the NFL trade deadline on Tuesday, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has reportedly been very active with the intention of improving their defensive unit.
In fact, Jones reportedly told Stephen A. Smith on SiriusXM on Monday that Dallas “has already made a trade” and he is “working on two more,” according to reporter Clarence Hill Jr.

Given the team’s struggles to create consistent pressure and contain opponent passing attacks, speculation is that Dallas is looking to add an elite pass rusher and/or veteran secondary pieces before the 4 p.m. ET trade deadline.
Names that have been consistently brought up include Miami Dolphins safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, Dolphins’ defensive end Bradley Chubb, Cincinnati Bengals edge rusher Trey Hendrickson, and Las Vegas Raiders’ Maxx Crosby.
Jones’ latest remarks arrive as the Cowboys sit 3-4-1 through eight games and head into a Week 9 Monday night matchup against the Arizona Cardinals at AT&T Stadium.

After the “Monday Night Football” contest against Arizona, Dallas faces a difficult stretch of games that includes a road test against the Raiders (2-6) on Nov. 17, before back-to-back home matchups against the Philadelphia Eagles (6-2) and Kansas City Chiefs (5-4).
Despite the tough schedule, the team is still hovering around .500 with one of the best offenses in football, and remains in legitimate contention to clinch a spot in the postseason.
The immediate takeaway is this: Dallas appears to be in buyer mode, with an emphasis on acquiring an immediate-impact defender that can help salvage a playoff push.
