Al Roker interrupts Today Show segment with hysterical antics

TV personality Al Roker surprised his Today Show colleagues on his day off by repeatedly crashing Tuesday’s live broadcast, bringing extra laughter to the morning segment

After Today Show viewers were left wondering where Al Roker had been since his recent absence from the show, the television icon made a ‘hysterical’ surprise appearance.

The longtime NBC weatherman made his presence known on Tuesday, November 4, by crashing several live segments throughout the morning, despite it technically being his day off. During the 3rd Hour of Today, Roker interrupted an interview with Wicked star Jordan Litz, who was speaking with Craig Melvin, Dylan Dreyer, and Sheinelle Jones about completing the New York City Marathon.

As Litz explained his experience, Melvin was quickly distracted by waving through the studio window. Outside was Roker, sporting a blue suit and holding a to-go coffee cup.

“I gotta be honest with you,” Melvin said. “It’s hard to keep track and focus, because this guy.” He pointed toward Roker, who continued to wave from outside the window.

“Oh my God, Al Roker!” Jones said. “Thanks for coming in to work today, buddy. In his defense, he got in really late last night, so we’re letting him sleep in.”

Melvin tried to shout back to Roker, telling him they were trying to run a live show. Roker jokingly responded with a talking hand gesture through the glass, teasing the crew as they attempted to continue the segment.

Moments later, Roker managed to sneak behind Melvin and Jones again, coming into frame and sparking laughter from the hosts and the crew.

Eventually, he entered the studio and gave a quick wave to everyone on set. “I’d love to stay, but I’ve gotta go. We’ve got things to do,” he said before leaving.

Clips of the lighthearted moment quickly spread on social media, where fans shared their amusement. “This is hysterical. You gotta love Al,” one viewer wrote.

Another commented, “Only Al,” while a third added, “Love you al he’s adorable!” One more fan joked, “We love you Uncle Al!” and another wrote, “I have to say, that was really funny.”

One thankful viewer commented, “This was so funny yesterday. Thanks for the laugh!” “I was like that’s Al Roker in the background. Silly Al,” one more reacted.

Some fans couldn’t help teasing Roker for showing up on his day off. “You could of worked today,” one person wrote with laughing emojis.

A final fan joked, “Usually you hide from the boss Al when it’s your day off Al! Did no one tell you?”

Roker has recently been taking a short break from Today and enjoying the fall season, but he’ll soon return to the spotlight.

He’s set to cohost the upcoming Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade alongside Savannah Guthrie and special guest Hoda Kotb, who retired from The Today Show in January.
