Emmerdale star Mark Charnock has teased some ‘thriller-style’ episodes coming
A monumental Emmerdale bombshell is heading our way that will leave audiences absolutely “staggered”, according to one of the soap’s leading stars.
With a major standalone episode set to broadcast next week – one of three specially planned instalments – Mark Charnock, who portrays Marlon Dingle, revealed that viewers should brace themselves for a jaw-dropping revelation. He also hinted that the drama won’t stop there, promising that the coming months, stretching into early 2026, will deliver “thriller-like” sequences.
Next week’s scenes will show Marlon desperately attempting to encourage his teenage daughter April Windsor to confide in him, as he detects something is seriously amiss. Little does he realise the extent of the danger she faces at the mercy of villains Ray and Celia, involving mounting debts, narcotics transactions, and Ray’s revolting attempts to coerce the youngster into sleeping with his customers.

Whether April will come clean to her father remains to be seen, but Mark has dropped tantalising hints about the explosive moments approaching. Mark told the Mirror: “There’s a twist in the episode that will stagger the audience.
“I was absolutely buzzing. It’s thrilling, and it’s flattering to be trusted with an episode, and to work with Amelia [Flanagan, who plays April] in that way. It’s an absolutely outstanding script.”, reports .
Discussing the pivotal episode and the shocking revelation in store, Mark continued: “Things are going to get considerably worse before they get better and in this special episode, something happens that when I read it, it shocked me so much that I thought ‘Oh god, I wish I’d known about it before I read it’ because it really threw me, it’s just a great twist of drama.

“There’s so much good stuff and the great thing about this story is it impacts so many different people. Tony Audenshaw has been brilliant in it as well, as Bob, he has been superb, who’s like a further circle away from the reality of it. It’s a storyline that keeps on giving – it’s dark but in the best dramatic way that a story can be dark.”
Mark also believes Marlon would go to any lengths to safeguard his daughter.
He revealed: “I think he could do something extraordinarily reckless, I truly believe that character would sacrifice himself for his child. I think he could do something irrational that could cause everlasting damage. He’d do absolutely anything.”
Regarding what lies ahead, he continued: “There’s some amazing stuff coming up. It’s really hard to answer those questions, I always want to say ‘And guess what? It’s this!’ but you can’t, can you? As well as this storyline, there’s something coming further down the line that is…
“I’m reading blocks like it’s a Stephen King novel. Joe Absolom said the same, it’s like ‘Bloomin eck!’ Charlotte Bellamy, who plays Laurel, said ‘Have you read this block? It’s unbelievable.’ It’s really exciting. I’ve got to say, some of the stories, not just this one, some of the stuff that is peaking up into into November, December, January, it’s like it’s a thriller, it’s amazing.”
