The “gut-wrenching” moment The Golden Bachelor’s Terri discovered her ex-husband’s betrayal

So far, Terri has proudly shown off her confident and kind-hearted nature while looking for love on The Golden Bachelor Australia 2025.
But Terri was hiding a very emotional story.
As women in the 50s and 60s, these ladies have experienced the best and worst parts of being in a relationship. Few marriages ended amicably, but others ended decades of love with “gut-wrenching” heartbreak.
In an emotional debrief with host Samantha Armytage, The Golden Bachelor contestants took their turns at divulging some of their past heartbreak. But it was Terri’s story that brought a tear to everyone’s eye.
The 61-year-old was in a relationship with her husband for nearly two decades, when her eldest son unintentionally revealed her husband’s biggest secret.
“My first love was my husband, we were only 17 and 18. I spent nine years with him before we married and we were married for 11,” Terri began in the show’s third episode. “We had two beautiful boys. That was my forever – well, what I thought was going to be my forever love.”
“The children were going to the Melbourne show with my husband. So I dressed them all up, he looked fabulous and off they went. At the end of the day, they come rushing in with their show bags saying how wonderful their day was.
“And then my oldest boy said to me, ‘oh mummy we met dad’s girlfriend today.’ I didn’t see it coming.”
Heartbroken and betrayed, Terri began a mind-numbing routine. After getting her two boys ready for school, she would spend hours sitting in her wardrobe.
“I felt like that was my safe space. Then at 3 o’clock the alarm would go off and I would have to pull myself together to go pick up the children and do what mums do,” Terri admitted.
“I had a lightbulb moment, I deserve more than what he was doing.”
“I think everybody who has been hurt knows that stab in the heart. It’s just a stabbing gutwrenching feeling when someone breaks you like that.
While the heartbreak has made Terri cautious, she is putting her heart on the line with Barry ‘Bear’ Myrden, hoping to find love again.
