‘Allen Iv3rson’ (2025)

As mentioned above, Allen Iv3rson is a biographical sports docuseries about the titular basketball legend. Directed by One9, the show is a three-part exploration of Allen Iverson’s life and career, from his origins in Hampton, Virginia, to his rise to the top of his sport and his life today post-retirement. While it isn’t the first documentary about Iverson, the series promises a deeper-than-ever dive into the iconic Hall of Famer’s personal and professional life, sure to excite any fan of the game. The series was produced by Shaquille O’Neal’s Jersey Legends and Stephen Curry and Erick Peyton’s Unanimous Media.

A true legend of the sport, Iverson is as celebrated for his electrifying skills as he is for his charismatic off-court personality, and his story is an inspiring watch even if you’ve never seen a basketball game in your life. For longtime fans, the documentary is a must-watch, revealing new insights into his life, legacy, and the massive impact he’s had on popular culture. It’s an intimate, candid portrait of one of basketball’s all-time greats that shows just how deeply The Answer reshaped the world around him.

‘The Bondsman’ (2025)

Created by Grainger David, The Bondsman is an action horror series starring Kevin Bacon as a bounty hunter whose life takes a supernatural turn. The show follows Hub Halloran (Bacon), who is murdered while tracking a bounty but brought back to life to hunt down demons who have escaped Hell. The show also stars Jennifer Nettles, Beth Grant, Damon Herriman, Maxwell Jenkins, and Jolene Purdy in lead roles.

Kevin Bacon as an undead bounty hunter is a premise that’s hilarious in and of itself, and The Bondsman more than delivers on its promise with a hilarious and gory narrative that masterfully blends violent horror and dark humor. Bolstered by Bacon’s charming lead performance, it’s a pulpy and wildly entertaining show that earned highly positive reviews from critics and genre fans. In spite of all that, the series was canceled after just one season. But on the bright side, that does make it the perfect show for a post-Halloween binge-watch.

‘One Mississippi’ (2015 – 2018)

Created by Tig Notaro and Diablo Cody, One Mississippi is a comedy series that stars Notaro as LA radio host Tig Bavaro, who returns to her hometown in Mississippi after her mother suffers an unexpected fall. Moving in temporarily with her brother and stepfather, she learns more about her mother’s past and the town she left behind. The series also stars Noah Harpster, John Rothman, and Cailey Fleming in lead roles, with Rya Kihlstedt, Casey Wilson, Stephanie Allynne, and more playing recurring characters.

A moving dramedy anchored by the performance and comedic ability of its talented lead, One Mississippi was quite well-received by critics and audiences during its original two-season run on Prime Video. The show bagged a couple of accolades as well, including a Critics’ Choice TV Award for Most Exciting New Series and two nominations for GLAAD Media Awards. Sadly, the series was canceled by the streaming service after the second season, supposedly because it didn’t bring in a wide enough audience. Despite the cancellation, the show is still one of Prime Video’s most entertaining, heartfelt, and grounded comedies, and it deserves a lot more credit than it gets.
