Perry survives LBW on review

Thankur thunders down a good length delivery and it thuds into Ellyse Perry’s pads!

It looks pretty good and it’s given out!

Phoebe Litchfield rushes over to Perry and says “that’s missing leg!”

The Australian’s review and, yep, that certainly is missing leg.

By quite a bit.

Perry survives.

6th over continued: Kranti has five to come

And we’re back!

The clouds have lifted and it’s looking glorious out there.

Ellyse Perry to face her first ball of the innings.

And it’s a lovely delivery!

Kranti bowls the scrambled seam to the right hander, and it moves away from Perry off the pitch. The Australian number three plays and misses.

Perry’s off the mark courtesy of a single through the off-side.

Overthrows! And four of them! Really loppy stuff from India. Phoebe Litchfield prods one into the off-side infield and Deepti Sharma absolutely pegs one towards the stumps. It misses and then bisects two fielders and goes to the fence.

Washout protocol

What happens if the game is a washout?
Great job you’re doing. Much appreciated 😃

– Ray Moreland

G’day Ray! Thanks for joining us.

There is a reserve day scheduled for tomorrow if today is washed out.

However, the forecast looks pretty good for the rest of the day, so fingers crossed we don’t need it.

Play to resume 9:10 AEDT

Thankfully, things are clearing out there.

The covers are already off and the rain has completely stopped.

Play will resume in about five minutes.

17m agoThu 30 Oct 2025 at 10:00am

Rain delay!

Alyssa Healy is followed off the park by the rest of the players.

Those dark clouds have opened up a touch and the covers are on.

That Healy wicket was the only delivery in between the long pause waiting for the floodlights to come on and the rain starting.

That’s a bizarre passage of play and probably a pretty tough one for the Australian skipper to take.

HEALY IS OUT!

The returning skipper is out!

Kranti Gout bowls Alyssa Healy.

This one perhaps kept a little low.

Healy was trying to guide the ball down behind square on the off-side, but missed it completely before it cannoned into middle stump.

6th over: The clouds roll in….

Oh no.

It’s not great news. It looks like it’s about to rain.

It has gotten very dark as we wait for the lights to come on.

27m agoThu 30 Oct 2025 at 9:49am

5th over: Thakur gets another go at Healy

The Australian captain swats Thakur deep into the on-side and the batters run through for a single.

A couple more singles for the over as the clouds roll in.

25 runs of the first five in Navi Mumbai.

28m agoThu 30 Oct 2025 at 9:48am

4th over: Kranti has a second

Alyssa Healy is struggling for fluency here, as we might expect.

She’s doing her best to get Kranti away but can’t quite.

The batters run a leg-bye.

Four! Another boundary to Litchfield! It’s a poor ball, really. Far too straight and the perfect height for the Australian opener to swivel and knock it behind square for another boundary.

A couple dots to end the fourth.

35m agoThu 30 Oct 2025 at 9:42am

3rd over: Thakur goes again

Drop! Wow. The returning Alyssa Healy attempts to loft the ball over mid-off but doesn’t get enough of it. It balloons up and the fielder is making ground. She should take it.

But she doesn’t. The ball is in and out in a flash and Navi Mumbai groans in unison. Massive moment in the game.

Four! The batters picked up a single on that dropped chance and Phoebe Litchfield strokes another one through the infield on the off-side. There’s a dive on the boundary from Smrti Mandhana, but she can’t cut it off. Four more.

She is looking on here, Litchfield.

2nd over: Kranti opens up from the other end

Kranti Goud has been excellent so far this World Cup, and she gets the opportunity to open up from the other end.

The right arm-pacer comes over the wicket to Healy, who works it through mid-wicket for a scampered single.

Shot! First boundary of the innings. That’s textbook Litchfield, using her feet to get to the pitch of the ball and pierce the infield on the off-side.

And again! This one is a real statement. Striding forward to a full delivery, she lofts it over mid-off. Four more.

1st over: Healy takes strike

Straight back into it for Australia’s returning captain.

Beautiful batting conditions in Navi Mumbai.

Renuka Singh Thakur opens things up for India – she’s bowling her right arm seamers from over the wicket.

Healy plants her foot and pushes a fullish first ball of the game into the off-side infield. No run.

Thakur follows up with a wide down the leg side.

And again.

First runs off the bat! That’s a lovely shot from Healy. It’s just a single, but one played authoritatively through cover.

Phoebe Litchfield gets her first taste of the action.

The left hander meets her first ball firmly. There are shouts of “catch it”, but the ball falls well short of a fairly deep mid-off.

Two dots end the first over.

G’day Mike!

Hello Henry and Dean, I’m predicting a big game for Perry… because… umm, well because she’s Ellyse Perry…

– Mike

Not the worst of calls, I reckon.

However, she has had a relatively quiet tournament so far.

Play isn’t far away.

Phoebe Litchfield and the returning Alyssa Healy are on the edge of the boundary as we speak.

The pre-match formalities have begun

And it’s quite a sight in Navi Mumbai.

Swelling, orchestral drones play over the stadium speakers as the players and umpires walk out onto the field with a red carpet underfoot.

The players line up for the national anthems.

King’s stellar tournament

Leg spinner Alana King has probably been the story of the tournament for Australia.

It was always likely she would thrive in sub-continental decisions, and after taking a couple games to get going, she has been nye-on unplayable in India.

She’s taken 13 wickets at 3.57 runs an over, including her mesmirising 7-18 against South Africa – both the best ever figures by an Australian in WODIs and the best in tournament history.

Here’s a quick refresher.

The forecast in Mumbai

Unfortunately, rain has been a bit of a theme running throughout this World Cup.

Five of the 29 pool phase games were washed-out entirely, with many more being impacted by wet weather.

Colombo was painfully wet for much of the month – four of those five no results took place in the Sri Lankan capital.

Thankfully, the weather in Navi Mumbai looks pretty good this afternoon.

South Africa dominates England to book a place in Sunday’s final

The winner of today’s second semifinal will face South Africa in the tournament decider on Sunday.

Coming off the back of a demoralising seven-wicket loss to Australia in the final round of pool matches, it was a pretty impressive performance from South Africa yesterday.

Captain Laura Wolvaardt’s smashed 169 from 143 deliveries, seamer Marizanne Kapp took 5-20 as England fell to a 194-run defeat.

You’d imagine the Proteas wouldn’t mind the opportunity to avenge that last round drubbing on Sunday.

India XI: Three changes for the co-hosts

If India is to upset the defending champion today, they’ll have to do it without star opening batter Pratika Rawal, who was injured in the final pool game on Sunday.

Shafali Verma comes in in place of her, while Richa Ghosh and Kranti Goud also come into the team.

India XI: Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, Amanjot Kaur, Harmanpreet Kaur (c), Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh (wk), Radha Yadav, Kranti Goud, Sree Charani, Renuka Singh Thakur
