Skipper returns for Australia as India stand in way of World Cup final

Alyssa Healy returned but it was her opening partner who stunned for Australia as they took on India with a spot in the Women’s Cricket World Cup final on the line.

Healy was in supreme touch through the tournament, smashing back-to-back centuries before missing two games with a calf injury.

Australia triumphed in both games, though Healy’s well-timed absence meant she could well be fresh for the semi final against India.

She didn’t last too long, despite being dropped on 3, before she was bowled out for just seven runs.

Her opening partner, Phoebe Litchfield, had her own lucky escape with a catch reviewed and rejected after it was found to be hit straight into the ground.

It sparked Litchfield to another gear, as she took on India’s attack and bashed her way to a well-crafted 119 from 93 balls.

The news wasn’t as bright for India, who have lost opener Pratika Rawal for the rest of the tournament after injuring her ankle in a fielding mishap against Bangladesh.

The Australians beat India earlier in the tournament, when they chased a record 331-run target to win by three wickets.

Healy smashed 142 from 107 balls in that incredible win.
