Viewers pointed out that no one seems to question why Ray is in the village

Emmerdale fans admit they “can’t wrap” their heads around the villagers lack of concern around Ray Walters hanging around.
Ever since Joe Absolom made his Emmerdale debut as Ray Walters this year, viewers have been trying to figure out what direction his storyline will go in.
Over the last few months, Ray has manipulated Dylan and April into completing drug runs for him by convincing them they have a huge debt – with interest – to pay off.
It was revealed that Celia Daniels was the big boss this whole time, and not only that, but she’s also Ray’s mum.
Speaking about his role, Joe said: “It’s good to be evil. It’s good to be a little big snidey. It’s easier to be horrible that it is to be happy.”
On Tuesday (November 4), a special standalone episode will air that focuses on April contemplating whether or not she should open up to Marlon and tell him about Ray and Celia.
Mark Charnock teased: “There’s a twist in it that will stagger the audience,” and added: “I can tease things are going to get considerably worse before they get better.
“In this special episode, something happens that when I read it, it shocked me so much that I wished I’d known about it before I read it.
“It really threw me… There’s so much good stuff, and the great thing about this story is it impacts so many different people.”

As Laurel Thomas takes a shine to Ray and vice versa, however, fans couldn’t help but notice a lack of concern from the villagers over Ray hanging around.
On a Reddit thread, u/pastad2335 wrote: “I wish someone would wake up and see the mess April and Dylan have got themselves into. How can Ray swan around the village threatening them without anyone noticing. I find it difficult to understand how that time in the Hop how Laurel didn’t question how April knew Ray well enough to pester him about her ‘maths homework’ like why would April know a guy who sells ‘farming equipment'”
u/zeezeereads replied: “especially when laurel freaked out when anthony was tutoring angelica (rightfully so but yknow what I mean).”
The original poster added: “I honestly can’t wrap my head around how Emmerdale always manages to have scenes whereby something happens to someone, in the middle of the village, in the middle of the day and no one is there to Witness it… I’m going to assume that with Laurel she’s oblivious to Ray and April due to taking a bit of a fancying to him or something but still!”
