But few are aware that the actress, who has appeared in numerous prominent productions since the 70s including Bridget Jones, Calendar Girls, St Trinian’s and Nanny McPhee, has a son whose own acting CV is quickly catching up to hers.
Angus Imrie, 31, is by no means a small-scale actor. He’s starred in huge hits spanning, film, screen and radio.
The son of two actors – his dad is actor Benjamin Whitrow – Angus began his acting career in 2001, debuting in a BBC film drama called Station Jim.
At the time he was only five years old.

His next gig was with ITV six years later, a role in a drama series called Kingdom.
Today, Angus has solidified his name in showbiz, snagging top roles in well-known productions.
He plays the role of Josh Archer in the long-running BBC Radio 4 soap opera, The Archers, which first aired back in 2014.
In the year of its release, Angus won an award for his performance: Spotlight’s Most Promising Actor Award, received at The Sunday Times’s National Student Drama Festival.
He’s gone on to star in hit-series The Crown, portraying Prince Edward, The Kid Who Would Be King, acting as Merlin, and Robert Pattison flicl Mickey17 in the role of Shrimp Eyes.
Mickey 17 was a huge success, grossing approximately $133 million.
Angus has been cast to play a new role in an upcoming film by Luca Guadagnino for Amazon MGM Studios.
The AI Movie, called Artificial, has been gradually revealing its lineup though character details and any hints at plot lines are strictly under wraps.
The film has been described as a comedic drama set in the world of artificial intelligence.
Some of the other actors and actresses set to star alongside Angus so far include Andrew Garfield, Yura Borisoc, Monica Barbara Schwartzman, and Cooper Hoffman.

Will Angus (Almost Friday TV), Thaddea Graham (Bad Sisters), Nicholas Hamilton (It franchise), and Will Price (After the Hunt) are among the latest new names to be revealed.
Alongside his consistent role on The Archers, Angus currently stars as Zero in the animated series Star Trek Prodigy.

His mother Celia is continuing her run on Celebrity Traitors, where fans as of late have been in stitches because she farted in the middle of a tense challenge.
