Milwaukee chainsaw recall due to laceration hazard

The Milwaukee tool company has recalled roughly 7,500 chainsaws in Canada and more than 90,000 in the U.S. because of a faulty chain break causing a laceration hazard.
The affected product is a battery-operated Milwaukee M18 FUEL Top Handle Chainsaw, that comes with either a 12- or 14-inch bar, both as the stand alone tool and with the M18 lithium-ion battery packs and charger.
The company says the chain break, a safety mechanism designed to stop the chain from moving when activated, “may not prevent the chain from moving when the brake is activated, posing a laceration hazard.”
Health Canada issued the joint recall on Thursday, with the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (US CPSC) and Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation.
As of Oct. 21, 2025, the company says one laceration and two incidents were reported in the U.S., with no injuries or incidents reported in Canada.
