In this week’s theatrical releases in the south, various films of different genres are hitting big screens, as October is set to conclude. In Malayalam, even as its biggest blockbuster Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra is out on OTTplay Premium, Tamil film and Dhanush-starrer Idli Kadai, and Kannada’s biggest film of the year Kantara: Chapter 1, making its OTT debut, a bunch of theatricals have also found their way. Some of them include Tamil films Aan Paavam Pollathathu and Aaryan, Malayalam horror film Dies Irae featuring Pranav Mohanlal, and Telugu offerings including Ravi Teja’s Mass Jathara and Baahubali: The Epic. However, it looks like Pranav Mohanlal’s film is the first preference among the cinephiles, even as SS Rajamouli’s creation is on the list.
Pranav Mohanlal’s Dies Irae leads ticket bookings; Mass Jathara, Baahubali: The Epic and Aaryan pushed back
In this week’s theatrical releases, as per a known ticket booking website, Pranav Mohalal’s horror offering Dies Irae is leading the pack. The film comes from director Rahul Sadasivan, the maker of Bhoothakaalam and Bramayugam, is touted to be a horror flick and has been receiving good appreciation. The film is also leading with about 12.25K tickets being booked in the last one hour, at the time of writing.
Dies Irae stars Pranav Mohanlal
Surprisingly, October 31st also witnesses the release of Baahubali: The Epic, the re-edited and re-mastered version of SS Rajamouli’s two-part saga, which is made as a single film with a runtime of nearly four hours. While only 7.5K tickets are being booked in an hour for the Baahubali film, another Telugu film with known star Ravi Teja, Mass Jathara, is only starting its paid premieres on Friday evening, and clocks only 1.82K tickets an hour. Needless to say, Tamil films Aaryan and Aan Paavam Pollathathu, have fewer takers with 1.02K and 5.37K tickets being booked in the last 24 hours, respectively.
Baahubali The Epic
It is safe to tell that Pranav’s Dies Irae has become the most preferred film as of Friday afternoon, and with the film getting positive reviews, it is expected to gain more traction.
