Raptors begin NBA Cup quest against Cavs on TSN

The Toronto Raptors look to get back to winning ways tonight as they head to Cleveland to take on the Cavaliers in their first NBA Cup game of the season.

After opening the 2025-26 regular season with a big 138-118 win over the Atlanta Hawks, it’s been a struggle for Toronto, who have lost the past four games since.

While the Raptors have been averaging 121.4 points per game, they’ve been allowing a troubling 127.8 PPG against. They’ve allowed 139 points twice so far this season, including in Wednesday’s 139-121 loss to Kevin Durant and the Houston Rockets.

Scottie Barnes is continuing to lead the way offensively for the Raptors, averaging 22.2 points and six rebounds on the season.

Brandon Ingram, who arrived via trade last season but didn’t suit up due to an ankle injury, is off to a good start in his first season in Toronto, averaging 22 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists.

RJ Barrett (19.2 PPG), Immanuel Quickley (15.2) and rookie Collin Murray-Boyles (10.7) are also averaging double digits in points this season.

The Raptors will be without starting centre Jakob Poeltl against Cleveland as he is day-to-day with a back injury.

Cleveland, who won 64 games to earn the top seed in the Eastern Conference last year, is 3-2 through their first five games.

The Cavs dropped their season opener to the New York Knicks 119-111 before rallying to win three straight games. However, they’re coming off a 125-105 loss to the Boston Celtics on Wednesday.

Darius Garland (toe), Max Strus (foot) and Sam Merrill (hip) are all out for tonight’s contest while Donovan Mitchell (hamstring) and Jarrett Allen (fingers) are listed as questionable.

The Raptors, Cavaliers, Hawks, Indiana Pacers and Washington Wizards make up East Group A in the NBA Cup as the in-season tournament runs until Nov. 28 with every team playing four group play games each before eight teams advance to the knockout rounds.
