Avalanche recall forward Taylor Makar, Cale’s brother, from AHL

Colorado has recalled Taylor Makar, brother of all-star defenceman Cale Makar, from their AHL affiliate, the team announced Friday.

Taylor Makar has appeared in nine games with the AHL’s Colorado Eagles this season, registering one goal and three assists.

The 24-year-old was a seventh-round pick in 2021 and signed with Colorado on a one-year, entry-level contract through the 2025-26 season in March. He has yet to appear in an NHL game.

Prior to joining the Avalanche, he played three seasons with the UMass-Amherst Minutemen, scoring 15 goals and adding seven assists in 85 games from 2021-2023.

He skated in 2024-25 with the University of Maine and registered 30 points (18 goals and 12 assists) in 38 games.

His older brother, Cale, leads all NHL defencemen in points with four goals and 13 assists in 12 games played.

The Avalanche sit first in the Western Division with a 7-1-4 record and head to San Jose on Saturday to face the Sharks.
