Luka Dončić could return to action when the Los Angeles Lakers begin their NBA Cup schedule on Friday.
The team still listed Dončić on their injury report with finger and leg injuries, but on Thursday afternoon, upgraded him to questionable for the team’s game in Memphis against the Grizzlies.
Dončić has missed the Lakers’ last three games after scoring 49 points in the team’s first win of the season last week against the Minnesota Timberwolves. In that game, he suffered a finger sprain on his left hand and a lower left leg contusion. He was questionable to play this past Sunday against the Sacramento Kings before the team announced that he was out and would be reevaluated in approximately one week.
Dončić wasn’t with the Lakers in Minnesota on Wednesday for their win against the Timberwolves.
Marcus Smart, who has been out with a thigh contusion, was also upgraded to questionable for Friday’s game.
Without Dončić, the Lakers have gone 2-1 with Austin Reaves leading them to road wins against the Kings and Timberwolves.
Lakers coach JJ Redick said Wednesday that LeBron James was still on track to debut in either the second or third week of November. Rookie Adou Thiero, who also hasn’t been available to play because of a knee issue, was also recently cleared to take part in full-contact work with the Lakers’ G-League team.
