GameDay’s Nick Saban mocks Ohio State’s QB Julian Sayin’s former coach

Nick Saban, while breaking down Ohio State’s game with Penn State on Saturday, spoke highly of Buckeyes quarterback Julian Sayin during ESPN’s College GameDay.

“Julian Sayin is actually 80 percent completion percentage, leads the nation,” he said. “This guy is very accurate. He can make all the throws. He has great judgement. He’s got really good receivers to throw the ball to.

“Sometimes the receivers make the quarterback good. Sometimes the quarterback makes the receivers look good. These guys make each other look good.”

Buckeyes sophomore QB Julian Sayin has three games this season where he has thrown for at least 300 yards, multiple TDs and completed at least 85% of his passes.

Saban, 74, did want to make a statement.

“One point I think I’d like to make about Julian Sayin is he was at Alabama, and the coach at Alabama played him on the scout team for a whole year,” Saban said. “What a dumbass.”

Saban, of course, was the coach.

The former five-star quarterback, who committed to the Crimson Tide in the 2024 recruiting class, enrolled early at Alabama and joined the team for practice ahead of its appearance in the College Football Playoff’s Rose Bowl semifinal against Michigan.

Sayin left Tuscaloosa after then-coach Saban retired.

“I just didn’t really have a relationship with them,” Sayin said in January. “Just felt like I should enter the portal and ended up at a great spot here.”
