Ilya Samsonov signs two-year deal with KHL’s HC Sochi

Free agent goaltender Ilya Samsonov has signed a two-year deal in the KHL with HC Sochi on Saturday.
Samsonov, 28, went 16-9-4 last season with the Vegas Golden Knights, recording a 2.82 goals-against average and .891 save percentage while sharing the net with Adin Hill. He did not appear for the Golden Knights before they were eliminated by the Edmonton Oilers in the second round.
The 6-foot-3 netminder was on a one-year, $1.8 million contract last season.
Prior to playing in the NHL, Samsonov played in the KHL with Metallurg Magnitogorsk for three seasons, winning the Gagarin Cup in 2016.
Drafted 22nd overall by the Washington Capitals in 2015, Samsonov has a career 118-48-25 record with a 2.77 GAA and .902 save percentage, split between the Capitals, Toronto Maple Leafs and Golden Knights.
