Epic Games Store users have reported widespread login problems on Saturday, with thousands saying they were unable to access their accounts.
According to outage tracker Downdetector, more than 4,000 users reported issues with the platform at the time of writing.
The disruption coincides with scheduled Fortnite server downtime ahead of the launch of the much-anticipated Fortnite x The Simpsons crossover miniseries.
Many players expressed frustration on social media and forums.
On Downdetector, one user wrote: “Bruh epic games launcher ain’t working on pc.” Another commented, “Out of nowhere when I go to install a game I get ‘An unknown error occurred performing that action. Please try again’.”
Others criticised the company more bluntly, with one saying they were getting “real sick” of Epic’s “sh*t.”
On X (formerly Twitter), several users shared similar complaints. “The entirety of Epic Games Store Launcher is down…,” one wrote. Another added: “I can’t even log into my epic games store right now.”
“It just completely kicked me out of my whole epic games account and I can’t log in,” said one player, while another joked: “Even the servers of Epic Games couldn’t handle the new Simpsons season.”
What has Epic Games Said?
Epic Games has acknowledged the ongoing issue on its official site.
A message on the company’s status page reads: “We are aware that players are currently experiencing issues when trying to log in. Please visit the Epic Games Status here for the most up-to-date information.”
The site currently lists a “partial service outage.”
Fortnite Downtime Details
Fortnite servers were taken offline earlier as part of planned maintenance following the “Welcome, Our Alien Overlords” live event.
Epic Games confirmed on X that downtime began at 11:30 am ET on November 1, and is expected to last around five hours.
Servers were initially expected to return by 4 pm ET. However, the broader issues with the Epic Games Store may cause further delays for some users attempting to log in once Fortnite returns online.
