Another bad match as Danny Rohl removes Rangers flop

It must be said, if one player did not benefit from the new system last night, it is pretty clear who that player is, but he has not benefited from the move to Rangers in the slightest. Indeed, a goal for him in the last match got a reaction from him that now looks even more stupid than what Ibrox Noise accused it of being at the time. Yes, Youssef Chermiti was once again extremely poor. He did technically get the assist for Danilo last night, but we don’t really count it. He simply passed the ball to him. Well done. Youssef Chermiti struggles at Rangers.

A Bad Signing Laid Bare

The fact is, Chermiti and his reaction against Kilmarnock really summed up what a bad signing that has been. Yes, his goal at Ibrox was very, very good. It was a stunning strike, but it was all he did in that match. That was his impact, that goal. Subsequently, at Easter Road, aside from the assist, he didn’t do much again. Struggled. He is still very much a target man, but not a very good one, and he cut a dejected figure as he went off. To be replaced by the admittedly similarly ineffective Bojan Miovski. We will get to him in due course as well.

Up Front Woes

But the fact is that Rangers do have a bit of a problem up front. Miovski isn’t really doing it. Neither is Chermiti. Danilo thankfully is. Consequently, we have a two up front now, and it appears that Danilo is the sole benefit of this, which is fair enough if he is going to keep on scoring. But Chermiti is dire. He is a poor player, a bad signing and an utter waste of £10m. There is no sign from this estrangement that he is ever going to get any better than what he is.

No Signs of Progress

We don’t really know what the deal is. He was very, very poor for Everton, to say the least, and they are more than happy to have got the money for him. But for Rangers, the same deal. He was half decent in his homeland, in his previous club before Everton. That was okay. But now, in British football, he has struggled deeply and it continues to this day. As it turns out, Rangers don’t really have many options up front. Danilo, Miovski and Chermiti. It is not the best plundering of riches, albeit on paper it doesn’t seem that bad, but thankfully at least Danilo is scoring. As for what happened with Youssef Chermiti struggles at Rangers, who on earth knows. No one can get a song out of him. But the great irony is, two matches, a goal and an assist, a bit of a contrast really, isn’t it?
