Coco Gauff recently made a bold comment about the WTA being more competitive than the ATP, highlighting Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner’s dominance. This has divided tennis enthusiasts, who shared mixed reactions on social media.
Gauff, who is preparing to face Jessica Pegula in the first round of the WTA Finals in Riyadh, talked about how the WTA had four different winners at the Grand Slams in 2025. Whereas, in men’s tennis, Alcaraz and Sinner shared the four titles between them.
Sharing her opinion on this, Gauff said that while the WTA was competitive enough, the ATP needed a third competitor.
“It’s great to have four different Grand Slam champs this year. All the girls have had a competitive year across the board and I think it makes the sport more exciting when there are multiple chances for something to happen. Although Carlos & Jannik are doing great, there’s talks of there needing to be a 3rd person to make it more interesting,” said Coco Gauff.
The American tennis star’s comments have been picked up by many, garnering mixed reactions from fans on social media. Disagreeing with Gauff’s opinion, one of the users on X wrote:

Another fan on social media echoed the 22-year-old’s thoughts, commenting:

Coco Gauff recently did a photoshoot for the WTA finals in Riyadh with her fellow participants. Shortly after, the tournament’s official social media channels shared a glimpse of the same.
The picture had Gauff posing in classy attire with the other players, including Iga Swiatek, Jessica Pegula, Amanda Anisimova, Madison Keys, and Aryna Sabalenka.
In reply to the post, Coco Gauff left a sweet comment, revealing that she herself did her hair and makeup. She wrote:

The WTA Finals is scheduled to be played from November 1 to 8, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
