One Of The Biggest Marvel Movies Is Missing From IMAX’s 2026 Schedule

The Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise is getting closer to finishing Phase 6, as the ambitious multiverse arc will lead to a reset of the popular superhero universe. Phase 6 may have kicked off in 2025 with The Fantastic Four: First Steps this summer, but the slate will be over within the next two years through a handful of upcoming MCU movies and TV shows.
As 2025 draws closer to its end, the industry is looking ahead to 2026 for several major releases from various studios. During IMAX’s recent presentation, they confirmed that Avengers: Doomsday is slated for an IMAX release, but that is not the only Marvel Studios film arriving next year.
Despite being in production right now for a July 31, 2026, release date, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is not getting the IMAX treatment at all. Other superhero movies lined up for an IMAX run include DC Studios’ Supergirl film starring Milly Alcock as the titular heroine, which is scheduled to open on June 26, 2026.
Tom Holland Wearing Spider-Man Costume On A Soundstage For Spider-Man Brand New Day
This will mark Tom Holland’s first appearance in the MCU since the Spider-Man: No Way Home ending in 2021, with Destin Daniel Cretton helming his 2026 entry. The Peter Parker-centric movie will also be the last solo character film for the MCU before they head into Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
While plot points are still being kept under wraps, Spider-Man: Brand New Day will feature the return of Mark Ruffalo as Hulk, while Jon Bernthal will finally get to portray Punisher on the big screen after starring as Frank Castle on TV. Michael Mando’s Mac Gargan, a.k.a. Scorpion, is returning for the first time since his debut in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Even though it’s unclear who she is playing, Sadie Sink is set to appear in the MCU through the web-slinger’s summer adventure. Zendaya’s MJ and Jacob Batalon’s Need Leeds are also confirmed to return after appearing in Holland’s entire trilogy.
The MCU franchise is officially set to resume in January 2026 with the Wonder Man TV show on Disney+.
