Steelers’ DK Metcalf Fined by NFL for Actions Against Packers LB

Wide receiver DK Metcalf has been a huge addition for the Pittsburgh Steelers this season.
He’s caught 27 passes for 461 yards and five touchdowns — leading the Steelers in every category. Last week against the Green Bay Packers, he had five catches for 55 yards and a score; however, he was also involved in a skirmish with Packers linebacker Quay Walker, where he was penalized for smacking him in the helmet.
On Saturday, the NFL announced that the star wide receiver would be fined $12,172 for unnecessary roughness.

Pittsburgh acquired Metcalf in a trade with the Seattle Seahawks, as it sent a 2025 second- and seventh-round picks for him. The Steelers showed he was not only brought in to help Aaron Rodgers, but he is going to be a cornerstone for the franchise when they signed him to a five-year, $150 million contract in March.
He has quickly become Rodgers No. 1 target, as the two have developed a nice chemistry that has helped produce some big plays in the passing game.
Just a couple weeks ago, everything seemed to be going perfect for the Steelers. They were 4-1 and in control of the AFC North. However, consecutive losses with the Baltimore Ravens starting to resemble the playoff team many expected them to be, the Steelers entering a crucial part of their season.
A big reason for the team’s struggles has been the play of a defense that is the most expensive in the NFL. The expectation heading into the season was that Rodgers would help manage the game, and allow the defense to do its thing.
However, that hasn’t been the case, and Rodgers, Metcalf and the offense have had to play a much bigger role.
The offense is going to have to score some points in Week 9 as well, as the Steelers host Jonathan Taylor and the 7-1 Indianapolis Colts. For the Steelers to have a chance to win that game, they are going to need Metcalf to make some big plays while also keeping his composure and avoiding any big penalties.
Kickoff between the Steelers and the Colts is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET and the game will be on CBS.
