Election Day is Tuesday, and while many people will focus on getting to their polling places and casting their votes, others will be balancing regular errands, like picking up dry cleaning or going to the bank.
Although Election Day is not a federal holiday, some states do observe it as one. Many state offices will close, and 24 states, along with the District of Columbia, offer paid time off to vote. Other states provide time off for voting but without pay.
Here’s what to know about Election Day:
Are banks open on Election Day?
According to the Federal Reserve System, Election Day is not a designated federal holiday in which banks and other financial institutions close. That means most banks and other leaders will operate as they normally would.
Branches of Bank of America, Capital One, Wells Fargo and other banks will be open their regular hours. Other banking services, such as ATMs and online banking, should also be available as usual on Election Day.
Is the post office open on Election Day? Will mail be delivered?
Yes, post offices will be open and mail will be delivered on Tuesday, as Election Day is not a federal holiday.
Are UPS and FedEx open on Election Day?
Yes, UPS and FedEx pickup and delivery services will be available on Election Day, and their stores will be open as well.
When is Election Day 2025?
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 4. Polling sites in New York will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
