Choinski will need to be aggressive and proactive on serve against a consistent Sonego with the Italian aiming to take advantage of the Brit’s second serves.

Playing styles and prediction

Sonego has produced his best tennis at the biggest tournaments and has often been disappointing at the lower ranked events. The Italian will look to change that as he aims for a big win here and a successful tournament in Metz ahead of the new season next year.

Choinski will aim to be consistent on serve while putting Sonego under pressure from the baseline. Meanwhile, Sonego will use the forehand to dictate play as he will aim to force unforced errors from Choinski. This will be a good test for Choinski but Sonego should have too much firepower and consistency for the British qualifier.

Prediction: Sonego in three sets.
