This morning, the St. Louis Blues and Washington Capitals made a trade that would affect their AHL affiliates this season. The Blues are sending defenseman Corey Schueneman to the Capitals in exchange for defenseman Calle Rosen. They also sent Sam Bitten to Hershey in exchange for future considerations. Rosen tied for the team lead in points with the Capitals’ AHL affiliate, the Hershey Bears. He also led the team in assists with six. Schueneman led all Thunderbirds defenseman in points and assists with six points and five assists; he was fourth on the team in points and tied for second in assists. Bitten hasn’t recorded a point yet this season in four games. He’s a minus-one. Ironically, the two AHL affiliates faced off on Friday night at the MassMutual Center in Springfield, MA.

Calle Rosen
Rosen returns to the Thunderbirds, where he spent two seasons playing with them in 2021-22 and 2022-23. In 108 games, he had 61 points, including six goals and 55 assists. He was a -13 with a shorthanded goal and a game-winning goal. In 360 AHL games in his career, he’s recorded 198 points on 36 goals and 162 assists. He’s a plus-eight with 11 power-play goals, three shorthanded goals, and five game-winning goals. In 93 career NHL games, he has 31 points on 11 goals and 20 assists. He’s a plus-ten with two game-winning goals.
Corey Schueneman
The Bears will be Schueneman’s fifth AHL team. He’s appeared in 316 games, recording 116 points on 26 goals and 90 assists. He’s a career +28 with two power-play goals, a shorthanded goal, and two game-winning goals. Schueneman also appeared in 35 career NHL games, recording seven points on two goals and five assists; he’s a minus-four.
Sam Bitten
Bitten is in his third AHL season all with Springfield. In 93 games, he has nine points on three goals and six assists. He’s a -15.
