AS the final seconds ticked away and Macclesfield’s players passed the ball between themselves, it felt as though they’d cruised through to the next round.
The Silkmen certainly sped away from AFC Totton in the second half, scoring three times without reply, but the frenzied chaos of the opening 36 minutes – during which these teams traded six goals – is what those watching will have talked about on their journey home.
