Los Angeles Chargers tackle Joe Alt will undergo season-ending surgery after injuring his right ankle in Sunday’s win over the Tennessee Titans, the Chargers announced Monday.

Alt was carted off the field in the first half of Sunday’s game. The Chargers announced at the time that it was an ankle injury.

Alt missed three games earlier this season with a high ankle sprain to the same ankle. He returned in Week 8 against the Vikings and was a key part of the Chargers’ bounce-back performance against Minnesota.

The Chargers drafted Alt, 22, in the first round (No. 5) out of Notre Dame in 2024.

The Chargers have now lost both starting tackles to season-ending injuries, as Rashawn Slater tore his patellar tendon in practice in August. Slater was the team’s starting left tackle at the time. His injury caused the team to move Alt from right tackle over to the left side.

This story will be updated.
