Martin Roberts has confessed that parting with some of his beloved items was a “difficult” task while participating in the new series of Celebrity Yorkshire Auction House.
In tonight’s episode, Martin is joined by Angus Ashworth, who helps him declutter his home. However, it wasn’t all smooth sailing for the property guru.
The Homes Under the Hammer presenter, known for his love of antiques and collectibles, humorously described his filming experience as “terrible”.
Despite making a tidy profit, Martin expressed regret over selling some of his possessions during an exclusive interview with Reach PLC.
Discussing his passion for antiques and his decision to join the show, Martin said, “I’ve always been into and still am into collectibles, collecting things, antiques,” reports the Express.
“I’m really good at buying stuff, I’m really c**p at selling it. So over the years, I’ve amassed mountains of stuff, and I’m currently renovating a pub in South Wales and getting lots of stuff, which we’ll use to deck out the interior.”

Referring to the items he has collected over time, Martin continued, “Some of which I realised were impulse or possibly not an ideal purchase.
“So I’ve just never got around to selling it…psychologically it’s very difficult for me, and the whole experience on Yorkshire Auction House was terrible because I had to sell stuff, and I don’t like it.”
Martin expressed his belief that Angus was “happy” with the items he took away to sell, as they were “interesting” and “had a story behind them”.
He confessed, “I don’t regret selling some of the things. I do regret selling some of the things. So, I would say it was a hugely traumatic experience that I never want to repeat.”

The Homes Under the Hammer expert further explained his struggle in the auction room, humorously stating he “had to have my hands stapled to the chair” to prevent him from bidding on his own items.
Martin revealed, “I went to a car boot sale. I found them. I negotiated, and I carried them back to the car. I put them in storage.
“So it’s not just like I kind of ordered them on Amazon Prime and what they delivered. They all had pain associated with them, and you know, I’m just really rubbish at getting rid of stuff.”
Celebrity Yorkshire Auction House airs tonight on Really and is available to stream on discovery+.
