Anthony Hopkins gets honest about anger issues amid neurodiversity
Anthony Hopkins has recently confessed he’s been pushed to see a psychiatrist over the years amid neurodivergence diagnosis.
The Hannibal actor, who had been in the acting career for almost 70 years, revealed that his third wife, Stella Arroyave, informed him that he had Asperger’s Syndrome.
Anthony confessed how he’s “putting on a mask every morning” due to his anger issues.
However, The Silence of the Lambs actor does not believe in neurodiversity.
Anthony told The Sunday Times, “I guess I’m cynical because it’s all nonsense, it’s all rubbish; ADHD, OCD, Asperger’s, blah, blah, blah.”
“Oh God, it’s called living, it’s just being a human being, full of tangled webs and mysteries and stuff that’s in us, full of warts and grime and craziness, it’s the human condition,” explained the Red Dragon actor.
Anthony pointed out, “All these labels, I mean, who cares? But now it’s fashion.”
In a separate interview, the Red Dragon actor opened up that he struggled with alcohol addiction.
“I was drunk and driving my car here in California in a blackout, no clue where I was going, when I realised that I could have killed somebody. Or myself, which I didn’t care about,” noted Anthony during an appearance on The New York Times’ The Interview podcast.
The actor further said, “I could have killed a family in a car, you know. I realised that I was an alcoholic, and I came to my senses.”
