Jockey Blake Shinn has been taken away from Flemington in an ambulance after a dramatic fall in Race 9.

In good news, Shinn was sitting up and conscious after the nasty fall.
He was treated by paramedics on the track and could be seen blowing on the “green whistle” to treat the pain.
It’s understood he has suffered a serious leg injury and will be taken to hospital for further assessment.

The Victorian Jockeys Association released an update shortly after the incident.
“After a fall at Flemington, Blake Shinn is to be transported to hospital with a suspected broken left leg,” they said.
The 38-year-old is one of Australia’s most successful jockeys, having won the 2008 Melbourne Cup on Viewed as well as a host of other feature races.
She’s Got Pizzazz appeared to be unhurt and continued running to the line.
Dance To The Boom ($20) caused a huge upset to win, while red-hot favourite Surfin’ Bird failed to finish in the top four.
Winning jockey Kerrin McEvoy’s thoughts were immediately with Shinn.
“Firstly, I just hope Blake Shinn is OK,” McEvoy told Nine.
“You don’t like to see a riderless horse after a race.”
