See Giants QB Jaxson Dart talk about raising the bar for himself, team
New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart lost a game for the first time at MetLife Stadium as the starter. He spoke about raising the bar for Big Blue.
It’s NFL trade deadline day.
Teams around the league have until 4 p.m. today to make moves to either bolster their respective roster in anticipation of a playoff run or to trade away veterans not in the picture for next season and beyond to instead acquire draft capital for the 2026 NFL Draft or beyond.
Despite the Jets furious rally for their first win of the season in Week 8 against the Bengals, they’re in a clear sell mode or will just stand pat as they sit 1-7 and last in the AFC East heading into the second half of the regular season.

It’s the inaugural deadline for head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey, who are going through this process for the first time in these high-ranking positions.
How the duo handle the deadline will give a clearer picture of what to expect moving forward over the final nine games and heading into the offseason preparing for free agency, the 2026 NFL Draft and next season.
Plenty of deals have already been made around the league prior to and during Week 9, including the Jets making a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles to acquire WR John Metchie III and a 2027 sixth-round selection in exchange for cornerback Michael Carter II and a 2027 seventh-round pick, a move that was made last Wednesday.
What, if any, trades will the Jets make next with less than six hours until the deadline?
Here are the latest happenings with the New York Jets around the 2025 NFL trade deadline.
A stunner: Sauce Gardner traded to Colts
Wow.
The Jets make the first massive move on NFL trade deadline day, as they trade cornerback Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts.
In return, the Jets will receive the Colts’ 2026 first-round pick, 2027 first-round pick and a player yet to be named, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
2025 NFL trade deadline rapidly approaching
Now after 12 p.m. on the East Coast, there’s less than four hours until today’s 4 p.m. deadline.
All has remained quiet on the Jets front for now, as the organization has yet to move any players.
Still plenty of time left for the Jets front office if they decide to go the selling route.
Jets trade away deadline options
- Breece Hall, RB: It’s pretty clear on Hall. Either you trade him for max value now or he stays on the roster for the remainder of the season. If that’s the case, Hall could re-sign in the offseason, but it seems more likely he’d depart to be the RB1 of a different offense if he doesn’t seem eye-to-eye with the new regime’s offer.
- WR Allen Lazard, QB: I’m sure the Jets would love to move on from Lazard, who has not been a focal point or heavily involved in the offense the last 2 1/2 seasons since signing a four-year, $44 million contract back in 2023. The question is will a team in need of a veteran presence at WR come calling? If so, Lazard could definitely be on the move before 4 p.m.
- Jermaine Johnson, EDGE: Trading Johnson might not be in the team’s best interests given age and past production, but he does come with an injury history and could be a piece a team in dire need of pass rush help could look for as an option. The Jets could potentially get back a Day 2 (second or third round pick) for Johnson if they decided to make the move and trade away their former first round pass rusher instead of paying him down the line.
Will Jets trade RB Breece Hall?
This truly seems like a toss up. While the front office has expressed their interest in keeping the star running back, an offer might be too good to pass up for the soon-to-be free agent RB that very well could depart in free agency next offseason if he doesn’t get moved now.
