The former Ridge Holland (Luke Menzies) shared an unfortunate update as his contract expiration at WWE nears.
The injured performer was notified last month that his WWE contract will not be renewed this month while he’s recovering from a Lisfranc foot injury.
The injury occurred at a TNA taping in Edmonton in September while he was being loaned out by WWE for the show. WWE is covering his rehab costs, but as Menzies notes, it’s the “bare minimum” they could do:
I never thought I’d not be able to pay my mortgage.
I feel like I’ve just been hung out to dry after getting injured working for another company on behalf of WWE. Add to that my contract not being renewed knowing that I wouldn’t be able to wrestle for 7 months. This is brutal.
Yes they are taking care of the surgery and physical therapy but let’s be honest, that’s the bare minimum after what we sacrifice for the company.
Plus the possibility of having to get my neck fused too.
Talk about getting totally fucked.
Menzies posted last month that he expects to be out of action for six months from the foot injury, but was also getting his neck examined and noted in his post about a potential fusion surgery, which would extend that timetable.
Menzies, 37, was a Rugby player before signing with WWE in 2018 and reporting to NXT. He was drafted to the main roster in 2021 and became part of the Brawling Brutes with Sheamus and Pete Dunne, and returned to NXT in 2023.
