Small boat migrant who TWICE crossed the Channel to UK is finally sent back to France

THE SMALL boat migrant who snuck back into Britain just weeks after being kicked out under the “one-in-one-out” deal with France has now been removed again.

The Iranian man was first sent to France in September – but returned on 18 October on another dinghy and was identified through biometrics and detained.

The Home Office said his case was “expedited”, though it still took almost three weeks to organise his removal.

The Home Secretary said: “Anyone looking to return to the UK after being removed under the UK-France agreement is wasting their time and money.

“This individual was detected by biometrics and detained instantly. His case was expedited, and now he has been removed again.

“My message is clear: if you try to return to the UK you will be sent back. I will do whatever it takes to scale up removals of illegal migrants and secure our borders.”

It comes as ministers attempt to show the UK–France returns pact is delivering results.

Some 94 migrants have now been removed under the treaty, while 57 people have been brought to the UK legally through the same scheme, after full documentation, security, and eligibility checks.

Officials hope to ramp up deportations but French insiders told Le Monde Paris is “dragging it out” to gain leverage in ongoing funding talks over the Sandhurst pact.

The funding deal – worth £476million over three years – is currently being renegotiated ahead of its expiry in March.

French authorities are also blocking plans to intercept dinghies at sea – tactics promised at the Starmer-Macron summit – claiming they are too dangerous.

Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp blasted: “This weak Labour Government is being held to ransom and outfoxed by the French government in Paris.

“Labour promised interceptions near the French coast months ago and nothing has happened.

“Their lamentable French returns deal has seen 16,000 arrive while only 75 have been removed.

“That is no deterrent and it’s clear nothing will change.”
