Cole Escola Boards ONE PIECE Season 3 as Fan-Favorite Character

Make room, Straw Hats. A new passenger has boarded ONE PIECE.
Cole Escola (Oh, Mary!, Search Party, At Home With Amy Sedaris, Big Mouth) will join the epic pirate adventure for Season 3, which heads back into production in Cape Town, South Africa later this year.
Escola is set to portray the fan-favorite character Bon Clay, a master of performance and precision who is as dangerous as they are dazzling, a theatrical assassin who turns combat into art.
The casting comes on the heels of Escola winning the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play in June, for their performance as Mary Todd Lincoln in the beloved Broadway production Oh, Mary! Escola, who wrote and created the play, was also a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in Drama earlier this year.
ONE PIECE snagged an early Season 3 renewal in August, during the annual ONE PIECE Day celebration in Tokyo. Ian Stokes will join Joe Tracz as co-showrunner, writer, and executive producer.
Meanwhile, ONE PIECE: Into Grand Line returns for Season 2 on March 10, 2026. Upcoming episodes will see the Straw Hats visiting epic new locations as they sail through the legendary stretch of sea known as the Grand Line. Among the new locations are Loguetown, where pirate king Gold Roger (Michael Dorman) was executed; Reverse Mountain, a perilous summit with a river that flows upward; the pirate-friendly island of Whiskey Peak; the prehistoric island of Little Garden; and the winter land known as Drum Island.
ONE PIECE follows a daring young pirate named Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) as he sails the seas with his Straw Hats crew: swordsman Roronoa Zoro (Mackenyu), cartographer Nami (Emily Rudd), storyteller Usopp (Jacob Romero), and chef Sanji (Taz Skylar). Luffy dreams of becoming the King of the Pirates by finding the infamous pirate Gold Roger’s mysterious treasure, the One Piece. And in season 2, we’re introduced to the mysterious Miss Wednesday (Charithra Chandran).
Based on Eiichiro Oda’s beloved manga of the same name, the live-action series was created in partnership with Shueisha and is produced by Tomorrow Studios (an ITV Studios partner) and Netflix.
Executive producers include Oda, Marty Adelstein, and Becky Clements through Tomorrow Studios, Tetsu Fujimura, Chris Symes, Christoph Schrewe, and Steven Maeda.
