Fans of The Celebrity Traitors have been left questioning why the BBC series final isn’t airing on Wednesday night.

After a month of thrilling action in the Scottish Highlands, only five contestants remain in the Claudia Winkleman-hosted series.

Representing the traitors are comedian Alan Carr and singer Cat Burns, who have just one more day of gruelling interrogation to endure to potentially win up to £100,000 for their chosen charities.

The duo’s journey to the final has been nothing short of exciting, with ITV presenter Jonathan Ross joining them in the turret before his elimination.

However, despite their best efforts, they could walk away empty-handed, as Alan chuckled when asked by Claudia last week to declare his loyalty in front of the group, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Viewers have also noted that last week’s expulsion of Kate Garraway might cast suspicion on Cat, as she is now the only woman remaining in the game.

On the hunt to expose the pair before it’s too late are faithfuls Joe Marler, Ted Lasso actor Nick Mohammed and historian David Olusoga.

Ex-rugby star Joe has sussed out Cat and Alan’s true identities, confiding in Nick after they formed a close bond in the castle.

They’re now attempting to persuade David, who harbours mistrust towards Nick due to a past challenge, to join them in their suspicions.

As devotees of the regular series will know, anything could unfold in the finale, with uncertainty surrounding whether the inaugural Celebrity Traitors edition will conclude with triumph for the traitors or the faithfuls.

Launching last month, the programme has broadcast on Wednesday and Thursday evenings on BBC One and via BBC iPlayer. This marked a departure from the usual format, with the civilian version typically screening three evenings each week iin January.

Numerous viewers have now spotted that the finale isn’t actually broadcasting on Wednesday (November 5), flocking to X, formerly Twitter, to voice their bewilderment.

@lamont_nic63338 declared: “Can’t believe it’s not on tonight.”

@RyanJL added: “Sorry to everyone who thinks The Celebrity Traitors Final is on tonight. There’s no episode today – just an extra 24 hours to wait #CelebrityTraitors.”

@kateymania shared: “Me waiting for Thursday evening.”

@MisterVivian observed: “No #CelebrityTraitors tonight. I still think there should have been one more murder and it should have been Joe. I have a feeling the faithfuls will win tomorrow night.”

@el_chrisco remarked: “Why do they make us wait this long.”

The finale actually takes place on Thursday evening (November 6) at 9pm in what represents the first extended episode since the opener. Instead of the usual 60-minute run time, the finale will be extended by an extra ten minutes to wrap up all remaining loose ends.

Once Claudia reveals the winner or winners, The Celebrity Traitors: Uncloaked will air immediately afterwards on BBC Two at 10.10pm.

Hosted by Ed Gamble, the five stars in the final, including the winners, will discuss what transpired in their final moments in the castle.
