There is major disruption to train services in Dublin this evening due to a mechanical fault.
Irish Rail said Northern Commuter services and the Belfast Enterprise train are both experiencing “significant disruption”.
The disruption is due to a mechanical fault on a train between Skerries and Balbriggan. In a post on social media, Irish Rail said a train had “broken down” in Balbriggan.
Northern Commuter services were previously suspended with alternatives in place, but are now resuming, following the earlier mechanical fault.
Services between Skerries and Balbriggan were due to restart at 5.30pm, on a limited basis. A full service is then expected to resume by 6.30pm, with “residual delays”.
Limited bus transfers are also available for Enterprise services, but customers have been advised to make alternative arrangements where possible.
“Iarnród Éireann apologises to customers for the inconvenience caused,” a spokesperson said.
