Russell Westbrook reveals why he left the Denver Nuggets

American point guard Russell Westbrook has left the Denver Nuggets and revealed the real reason behind his departure.
The Nuggets had a solid playoff run in 2025, reaching the Western Conference semifinals before falling to the Oklahoma City Thunder in seven games.
After a long offseason, Westbrook found a new home with the Sacramento Kings and opened up about why he decided to move on from Denver.
“The truth is, they didn’t want me. It wasn’t my decision. God always has a plan — you just have to be patient. It’s not always up to me, and that’s okay, because someone else wanted me,” said Brody.
In the recent matchup between the Kings and the Nuggets, Westbrook shined with 26 points, 12 rebounds, and 6 assists.
Last season in Denver, he averaged 13.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game.
“I think everything was great. It just seems like they didn’t see it that way. Every part of my career has left something positive on me, and Denver was no different. I always try to see things from a positive perspective.
I’m grateful I had the chance to play there, and I truly look at it in a positive way. I’m thankful for the people I connected with — the fans, the arena staff, everyone who appreciated me. That’s always special. This business is what it is, and that’s not going to change much,” said Russell Westbrook.
