India A squad announced for South Africa A One-Day series: Tilak Varma named captain, Ishan Kishan included

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday announced the India A squad for the three unofficial One-Day matches against South Africa A.

Tilak Varma will lead the side, with Ruturaj Gaikwad as his deputy. Shreyas Iyer, who captained India A in its previous series against Australia A, misses out after sustaining an injury in Sydney last month.

Notably, Ishan Kishan was included in the 14-member squad on the back of his successful outings with Jharkhand during the Ranji Trophy. The squad also includes India’s T20 regulars Abhishek Sharma, Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana.

Riyan Parag, Ayush Badoni, Nishant Sindhu and Prabhsimran Singh, who were selected for the series against Australia A last month, retained their spots.

The three-match series will be played at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot from November 13 to 19.
