India defeated Australia in the fourth T20I of the five-match series to take an unassailable 2-1 lead in the series. India now have a chance to win the series by a margin of 3-1, if they win the final game of the series to be held at the iconic Gabba Cricket Ground in Brisbane. For the Men in Blue to snatch a victory, they must need to field a strong playing XI. the team management have made it clear that they would try to use different combinations with the T20 World Cup 2026 in min. Hence, we might see some changes in the playing XI with no chances of a series loss.
Sanju Samson Returns
Jitesh Sharma was given two chances as the specialist wicketkeeper-batter who could play in the lower middle order, with Sanju Samson being dropped. While he scored a useful 22 runs in the third match, he could only manage to score 3 runs in the fourth match. Sanju might thus be brough back into the playing XI for the final match, and this is the only change they would make in the batting order.
Jasprit Bumrah Rested
The team management have time and again stated that Jasprit Bumrah’s workload has to be managed given his recent poor record with injury. Hence with a series draw at least guaranteed, India might take a gamble and rest the star fast bowler for the final T20I of the series, especially with the Test matches against South Africa coming up from November 14.
In place of Jasprit Bumrah, India might give a chance to Prasidh Krishna, who is yet to get a single game in the series.
