Tyler West admits taking on Celebrity Race Across the World with partner was ‘tough’

The pair – who met on Strictly Come Dancing – have now taken part in the BBC’s Celebrity Race Across the World

Tyler West and Molly Rainford have revealed that participating in Celebrity Race Across the World together proved to be the “biggest test” of their relationship.

The couple – who first met during the 2022 series of Strictly Come Dancing and got engaged this summer – featured in the latest series of the BBC programme. The challenge saw celebrities travel 5,900km across Central America, from Isla Mujeres, Mexico’s easternmost point, to the Guajira Peninsula, the northernmost region of South America, whilst managing a tight budget.

Speaking on ITV’s Lorraine on Thursday (November 6), Molly said: “It was probably, like, the biggest test to be like, can I marry this person?”

Tyler acknowledged the gruelling race was “tough” but confessed: “I think there were times along our journey on Race Across the World that I was like, I can’t get with anyone else because you’ve seen me in some diabolical situations.”

“Yeah, me especially, you know, some of the stomach issues and all that good fun… you’ve seen me at my worst,” Molly concurred.

Tyler quipped: “I’ve smelled her at her worst!”

“No, there was situations, it was tough,” he continued, as his fiancée added: “We survived.”

Tyler also described how challenging it was dealing with hunger during their travels, reports the Mirror.

“You’ve got, like, minimal budget, and it’s like, you actually have to think of, like, it’s a survivalist, like, it’s where am I going to eat?” he explained. “How am I going to, where am I going to sleep? How are we going to get there?

“And it was all of these stresses that you don’t normally go through on a day-to-day basis.”

He continued: “I was starving. I was starving. I was like, I was waiting for the leftovers at the end of the table, like, thinking, can I have their plate over there?”

The series also features broadcaster Roman Kemp alongside his sister Harleymoon, Big Boys and Derry Girls star Dylan Llewellyn with his mum, Jackie, and broadcaster and writer Anita Rani accompanied by her dad, Bal.

Lorraine airs on TV from 9am on weekdays and Celebrity Race Across the World starts at 8pm on BBC One tonight (Thursday November 6)
