Ethan Hawke gushes over working with Taylor Swift: ‘Incredible’

Ethan Hawke is still savouring the experience of working with Taylor Swift.
The actor made the sweet confession during his first-ever visit to Miami on Nov. 2, where he received the Miami Film Festival’s Variety Virtuoso Award and looked back on his long career in a conversation with Variety co–editor-in-chief Ramin Setoodeh.
While reflecting on past collaborations with Hollywood greats, including Robert De Niro, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Ben Stiller and Julia Stiles, Hawke lit up when talking about reuniting with his Dead Poet’s Society co-star Josh Charles for Swift’s Fortnight music video featuring Post Malone.
The project, written and directed by Swift, came together thanks to his daughter, Maya Hawke.
He recalled how it unfolded, sharing that Maya reached out unexpectedly.
“My daughter is creating opportunities in my life. I get a text from my daughter saying ‘Hey dad, Taylor Swift wants your number.’ So I guess they met. And anyway, Taylor Swift is a ‘Dead Poet’s Society’ fan, and so, hell, I’ll take what I can get,” he joked.
Hawke couldn’t help but praise Swift’s vision, saying, “That woman is incredible. She’s a force of nature.”
His comments came just as Swift made another splash with her music. The singer recently released a new take on her No. 1 hit from The Life of a Showgirl.
The acoustic track, titled Alone In My Tower acoustic version of her chart-topping single The Fate of Ophelia, has held the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for three straight weeks.
The acoustic version originally appeared only on special physical editions of the album sold during opening weekend, later becoming available as a digital download.
Now, fans can finally stream it.
Swift confirmed the update on Oct. 31 through Instagram Stories, where Travis Kelce’s fiancée shared that the acoustic release had officially arrived on streaming platforms following its exclusive debut.
Hawke’s admiration reinforces just how many creative worlds Swift continues to bridge, all while topping charts along the way.
