Oscar Isaac Laughed at Jacob Elordi’s Frankenstein Salary: How Much Was The Euphoria Star Paid?

During the promotional interviews for Frankenstein, Oscar Isaac revealed that he “just started laughing” upon looking at Jacob Elordi in full prosthetic makeup as the Creature. Elordi himself chimed in, stating how Isaac probably thought he was a “fool,” while the latter called him an “idiot,” but all in good humor.

Then we had Guillermo del Toro saying that Elordi should have asked “for more money,” and Isaac further blurted that he felt it was going to be a “disaster.” The trio laughed their way through the segment, putting their synergy on full display, which also shines through in the latest Frankenstein adaptation.

So, let’s look at the ballpark figure that Elordi might have made for playing the creature, followed by whether the actor deserved more for his gruesome preparation!

Jacob Elordi’s Speculated Salary for Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein

Though Jacob Elordi’s exact salary for projects hasn’t been publicized, there have been whispers and speculations. From Euphoria, Elordi allegedly earned between $150,000 and $1 million per episode, depending on the season and negotiation (via The Richest).

Saltburn fetched around $320,000 while his role in Priscilla was the biggest paycheck yet, which earned him $500,000. Given that Frankenstein has a budget of $120 million (via Variety), and Netflix’s payouts for big projects are generous, he likely made anywhere between $500,000 and $1 million for his transformative role.

Jacob Elordi’s metamorphosis of turning into Frankenstein’s Creature required 10 hours in the makeup chair each day! They used 42 prosthetic pieces on his body, and 14 of them were just for his head and neck (via Variety).

Each application took him eight people, and he went through this process nearly 50 times. So that’s 500 hours spent applying prosthetics alone, plus the ones that he had to spend while actually wearing them!

He also underwent significant weight loss for the role (via Los Angeles Times), and spoke about how it left him in “such pain.” It’s easy to see why Oscar Isaac and Guillermo del Toro laughed at his paycheck.

Here’s an overview of the movie:

So, was the money enough? That’s debatable because he could’ve easily earned the same amount doing a less demanding role. If the figures are anywhere close to what we speculated earlier, it’s safe to say that maybe Elordi was underpaid for Frankenstein.

But what do you think? How much did Elordi truly deserve?

Frankenstein is currently in limited theaters and will be available to stream on Netflix on November 7, 2025 (USA).
