Caroline Flack revealed she “couldn’t see any way out” in heart-wrenching texts and voice notes sent before her death. The former Love Island presenter took her own life in February 2020 at the age of 40, while awaiting trial over the alleged assault of her boyfriend.

A coroner later found her mental health had deteriorated following her arrest, noting during the hearing inquest that she had been “hounded” by parts of the media. Now, with her family’s permission, her desperate final messages have been shared in a new documentary.

The TV presenter’s mother, Christine, retraces her daughter’s final steps before her tragic death in the new Disney+ documentary Caroline Flack: The Search for the Truth.

In the trailer, Caroline is heard saying: “I’m just really going all over the place, my head doesn’t know what to think at any point.”

Caroline’s mum, Christine, says the phone messages her daughter left behind revealed the “real story.” In a new trailer for the documentary, one message from the late TV personality reads: “I feel the lowest I’ve ever felt, I don’t see any way out of this.”

Explaining why she chose to share her daughter’s untold story, Christine says: “I’ve got nothing to lose. The worst thing in the world has happened. My daughter has died. As a parent, we think our children are always gonna be there. I want justice for my daughter.”

In the final moments of the documentary trailer, the former Strictly Come Dancing star is heard saying: “I think I should make a documentary about all this! What do you think?” as she reflects on the stress of her impending court case.

Caroline was accused of assaulting her boyfriend, Lewis Burton, following an argument at her flat, the Mirror reports. She was replaced as Love Island host while awaiting her trial.

In 2023, the Metropolitan Police issued an apology to Flack’s family for failing to keep a record explaining why she was charged with assault.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) had initially recommended that the former Love Island presenter receive a caution after an incident with her boyfriend, but this was overturned following an appeal by the Metropolitan Police, who instead charged her with assault by beating.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said the force was instructed to apologise to Flack’s family after a review by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) found there was no “record of rationale” for appealing the CPS’s original decision.

Split into two parts, Caroline Flack: Search for the Truth follows mum Christine as she retraces the events leading up to Caroline taking her own life in 2020. Both episodes will be available on the streaming platform from November 10.

Ahead of its release, Disney+ shared a poignant scene from the documentary showing Christine visiting her daughter’s grave with family, as they talk about her mission to hold those accountable who contributed to Caroline’s declining mental health.

She then addresses the camera directly, saying: “I think Caroline would be pleased with what I’m doing. I wish I’d done it then, before she took her own life – and that’s my biggest regret, that I wasn’t shouting like this, then.”

She continues: “But now, I’ve got nothing to lose. The worst thing in the world happened with losing Carrie.”

The official synopsis for the upcoming documentary states: “After her arrest in 2019, she became the target of a relentless media storm. Vilified in the press and online, her world spiralled – ending in tragedy when she took her own life.

“This powerful two-part Disney+ documentary follows Caroline’s mother, Christine, as she investigates the truth about her daughter’s final months – uncovering new shocking details, asking difficult questions, and exposing the misrepresentations, pressures, and failures from institutions and decision makers that shaped Caroline’s final days.”
