The Space-X CEO’s ex raised the alarm about the encroaching era of AI ‘superintelligence’, saying that kids should not have access to it until they’re 21- in spite of Elon Musk’s Grok.

Elon Musk’s ex, Grimes, has issued a damning eight-word statement on the X owner and the “imminent threat” a man she “can’t control” poses to kids.
The singer-songwriter, Claire Elise Boucher, or Grimes, thinks “the biggest imminent threat is just outsourcing thinking”, referring to AI services. Her ex and billionaire Space-X owner has integrated multiple forms of AI into social media platform X. In February he claimed Grok 3, “the smartest AI on Earth”, in a presentation on X. It comes as Musk’s wealth hit an eye-watering milestone as he set a wild new record.

Claiming there were studies that have proven AI “atrophies the brain,” she told Doomscroll’s Joshua Citarella, referring to AI, “I’m tired of experimenting on kids you know, smoking, MacDonalds and now we’re gonna do it with this?” Musk’s platform, with both written and visual forms of AI, is available for anyone over 13. There is currently no process of age verification when signing up to X.

Although the mom-of-three thinks AI might make kids “die”, on the other side, she also says she is looking forward to a new era of AI. Grimes added: “In some ways I can’t wait for superintelligence – in some ways I can’t wait. It’s not as easy since I’ve had kids.”
In 2021, Elon Musk, who now has three children with singer-songwriter Grimes, said they were “semi-separated” but continued to co-parent their chilld X Æ A-Xii Musk, born in 2020. However, they went on to have more children together and the exact state of their relationship is unknown.
Grimes, saying clips of toddlers trying to zoom in on magazine pages is “dark”, added, “In school; we should teach digital hygiene – I really think Chat GPT and stuff should be banned for kids under the age of 21 -22.”

Elon Musk stated the mission of his AI company, xAI, and its chatbot, Grok, is “to understand the universe” and to “answer the biggest questions.”
Grimes appeared to reference being cancelled for her marriage to Musk, saying: “I just can’t engage with that everyday especially when it stops being about me and it started being about the behaviour of other people that aren’t me that I can’t control.”
In 2021, Grimes and Musk a daughter named Exa Dark Sideræl through surrogacy. In 2023, it was revealed they had kept the arrival of their third child, Techno Mechanicus, secret since he was born in 2022, according to The New York Times’ review of Musk’s biography.

Regarding Open AI’s proposed erotica feature Grimes said, “I think this is really bad”, adding, “everyone’s approaching this as if its like a regular technology – but its a mind.” In February Musk launched Grok 3’s “sexy mode,” which allows the chatbot to engage in romantic, adult conversations.
Regarding AI’s impact on art – she said: “I can’t think about the art. Because I don’t want to die and I don’t want kids to die. We’re in an arms race – the art race is fake.” The mom added: “They’re making video probably because that is the best way to teach physics to anything that does not exist in a world of physics.
“I’m sure that it’s not a big conspiracy to create a superintelligence – except that they f*****g say that.” She does not clarify who “they” are. Musk’s latest AI invention is Grokopedia – a “more neutral and more accurate than Wikipedia”, the ex- DOGE (Department Of Government Efficiency) lead, claims.
