Friday is sunny and mild, but Saturday winter weather impacts Siouxland

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) –

TODAYS OUTLOOK:

Your Friday will be mostly sunny and mild, as highs will top off in the 50s and 60s.

We are forecasting to see some breezy winds today, as they will be gusting up to 25 to 30 miles per hour out of the northwest.

This will be our last mild day before the cold moves in for the weekend.

TONIGHTS OUTLOOK:

Friday night is when our weather pattern starts to change.

Clouds will move in overnight today, with rain chances also increasing.

As the rain moves in, our temperatures will also begin to decrease, leading to the chance of some wintry weather happening tonight and into early Saturday morning.

We are forecasting to see overnight lows to fall in the low 30s, so if snow does fall, it will be a very wet snow.

TOMORROWS OUTLOOK:

Saturday is a First Alert Weather Day, as we are forecasting to see our first chance of wintry weather of the season.

The best chance of any kind of snow will be in the morning on Saturday, as our morning lows will be near 32 degrees.

The best chance of any kind of accumulation of snow looks to be north of HWY 20, especially our counties and towns near the Minnesota state line.

Here is what snowfall looks like for Saturday.

Some places could get up to 2 inches of snow, while the rest of the area will see less than an inch.

So, this isn’t a widespread event, but things could get messy.

Sunday will be cold with morning lows in the teens and wind chills in the single digits.

During the day on Sunday, wind chills could be in the teens and 20s. Sunday night wind chills will be back in the single digits.

The good news is that we will warm back up towards the middle to end of next week.
