BBC Strictly Come Dancing fans have been left “emotional” after one contestant’s performance in the latest episode of the show.
The popular celebrity dancing competition is continuing on BBC One this weekend, with couples putting out the best performances possible to stay in the competition. However, this weekend, one performance left the viewers emotional.
Eastenders star Balvinder Sopal has been paired with newcomer Julian Caillon in the contest, and decided to do something special this weekend. After surviving the dance off last week, it was Balvinder and Julian’s Couple’s Choice, and so they decided to pay tribute to Balvinder and her family.
Last year, Balvinder revealed, she lost her mum, and she decided to do Strictly this year after deciding she would be saying yes to opportunities which came her way, just like her mum would want. To pay tribute to her mum, and to her heritage, Balvinder and Julian performed a Bhangra-style dance.
This wowed the judges, with Shirley calling it her best dance so far. Balvinder was awarded a score of 34 overall, with a seven from Craig, a nine from Motsi, a nine from Shirley, and a nine from Anton.
Social media also lit up with praise, as fans said the dance left them “emotional”. @SukeveEnders said: “I am allsorts of emotional right now. Bal was incredible”.
@SouthernCazza1 added: “Go Bal! Bloody brilliant”. @SHANEOfficial_ wrote: “I give Balvinder & Julian a 9. You commanded that dancefloor, Bal! You and Julian created a beautiful atmosphere. Armography was superb! Mum will be proud, I’m sure she danced with you. Your best dance yet! Well done!”
Another fan, @EmmaCha52509953, said: “I’m sobbing at Bal’s dance on #Strictly tonight Goosebumps, what a beautiful BEAUTIFUL dance Your Mum would be so proud of you!! I LOVED that so much”.
@celebs_tvstuff criticised one of the judges, adding: “CRAIG, THERES WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH BAL’S DANCE”.
Then, @sukiswain said: “bal (+ julian!) was absolutely incredible in her couples choice. she shared a part of herself with us. she absolutely needed this after last week. she was confident + shining! finally a high score! but that + a CC doesn’t mean she’s safe. PLEASE VOTE FOR HER”.
