The Rock Reveals When Jumanji 3 Starts Production

Dwayne Johnson has provided fans with an exciting update regarding the highly anticipated Jumanji 3. The actor, who successfully revived the classic franchise with the release of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle in 2017, followed it up with a sequel, Jumanji: The Next Level, in 2019. Following the success of the previous films, Johnson announced plans for a third installment, which has been shrouded in speculation until now.

During a recent chat on The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast, Johnson disclosed that production on Jumanji 3 is set to commence in less than three weeks. While sharing this exciting news, he also took a moment to humorously jab at his close friend and co-star, Kevin Hart. “Thank you for all the Jumanji love,” Johnson stated. “I’m happy to announce that in less than three weeks we’re starting Jumanji 3. It’s very cool. There will be no Kevin Hart—yeah, he’s just greedy, he wants too much money, but it’s okay. No, I’m only kidding! We can’t wait. It’s going to be awesome.”

In further details, Johnson confirmed that director Jake Kasdan will return to helm the new installment and revealed that the film will be shot in Los Angeles. This marks a significant shift in the shooting location compared to previous films in the series.

In the same conversation, Johnson also touched on his recent work, noting that he has just wrapped filming on the live-action adaptation of Moana. Playing the character Maui holds personal significance for him, as he connects deeply with his Samoan heritage and values. He expressed pride in how Moana showcases Polynesian culture. “Playing Maui has been the gift of a lifetime,” he said. “Today’s Tuesday. Just this past Friday, around 8:00 pm, we officially wrapped the live-action version of Moana, so we can’t wait. This upcoming summer, you guys will see live-action Moana, and it’s going to be pretty cool. I spent an entire week shooting ‘You’re Welcome,’ and the singing and the choreography is crazy.”
