It’s time for Basketball: Spurs vs New Orleans Pelicans

Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don’t troll and don’t swear too much.
The Spurs played their best game of the season last night, and while it wasn’t beautiful for 48 minutes, the Spurs outplayed the Rockets when it counted to pull out a double digit win against one of the best teams in the conference.
Tonight, they play their first rematch of the season, a contest against the New Orleans Pelicans, who they beat 120-116 in overtime on October 24th. Zion Williamson will be out tonight, as is Yves Missi and Jordan Poole. Despite all of the missing players, the Pelicans have been playing better ball lately and are currently on a two-game winning streak after losing their first six, relying in Saddiq Bey, Trey Murphy III, and super rookie Jeremiah Fears.
The Pelicans have a rest advantage tonight, since they last played on Wednesday, beating the Mavericks 101-99 on Wednesday night. The Spurs not-so-secret weapon tonight will be De’Aaron Fox, who has about a 6 months rest advantage over the rest of the players in the game tonight. He’s been practicing with the team, so it’s possible that he could just be instantly effective, but then again, it could take a while to get him integrated with the team. A lot of people are calling this a trap game, but it’s hard to call it when the Spurs had to play an overtime period to win against this team just over two weeks ago. Mitch Johnson should have his players ready, but we don’t know how well Wembanyama can handle a back-to-back, since this is the first one since he returned after his medical issues from last season. Hopefully, the Spurs can put this game away early and not need him to play big minutes. Let’s watch and find out.
Zion Williams will stay in the locker room and eat all of the team’s snacks before halftime.
